Senior Portrait Session Butchertown Louisville KY
KEITH
Keith Phillips’ session to place all around downtown Louisville. It was especially important for us to focus on locations and murals in Butchertown because his mother and father both grew up around the area. When we came upon the mural of a pig, Keith, or KJ for short, got super excited. Apparently, his parents had told him about pigs running wild down the streets of Butchertown, aiming to escape the butcher who had come to town.
We asked KJ what makes him, well him. Here’s what he had to say:
I feel like my kindness is what makes me myself. I’ve always been that person that’s always down to have a conversation with anyone and I just try to be approachable so that whenever someone needs anything, they can always come to me for help. I grew up as a UofL fan because of mostly my grandparents. They’ve always been big UofL fans and they took me to games since I was a couple of years old. However, some of my family have tried to get me to join the other side but I held my ground over the years.
Like I said earlier, I’m passionate about being selfless and helping others. Since I like to travel and I’ve been fortunate enough to have many opportunities to travel, I have seen people that are sitting alongside the streets begging for money so that they can barely afford their next meal and it’s extremely saddening to see that happening across the world.
I want to be one of the people that try to change that.
I’ve decided to stay in my hometown and attend the University of Louisville as an Exercise Science major. I work for the Louisville Football team as a videographer, so I spend almost half of my day at the workout facility. Other than that, I don’t really know if I’m going to rush or do any other club activities because of lack of free time and just focusing on my academics this year but eventually, I’ll get to that.
I chose to work with Green Apple Photography because I wanted to capture my last memories at Eastern that was cut short due to COVID-19 and I also wanted to show my future kids that I was a part of history. My favorite photo that was captured during my session was the one of me blowing the confetti because I thought it was going to be a one-take picture. Instead, it took lots many tries to get it right while my mom and Christora were instructing me on how to blow the confetti to get it just right.
We couldn’t have enjoyed our time with KJ more and can’t wait to see, and feel the impact he’ll have on the world.
