St. James Court has some of the most breathing-taking architecture in the city of Louisville and is nestled in what is considered to be “Old Louisville“.

The area used to be house The Southern Exposition of Art, Industry and Agriculture in 1883.
At the time, the Southern Exposition of Art, Industry and Agriculture had the largest ever display of electric lighting using Edison bulbs.
Once disassembled in 1887, it was subdivided into three walking courts featuring center green spaces.

The original fountain at St. James Court was replaced in the 1970s with what you see today.

It is also home to the St. James Court Art Show that takes place on the first weekend in October ever year.
